To commemorate Jetstar Asia’s inaugural
services
between Penang and Singapore, the low cost airline has launched a
“JetSaver Light Challenge” where contestants have a chance to win
a year’s worth of free travel from Penang to Singapore.
Jetstar commenced an inaugural daily service to Singapore
on the 1 July 2009 and has plans to expand this to a double daily
service on 1 October 2009.
The new low fare A320 services will
grow Jetstar’s weekly flights between Singapore and Malaysia up to
88 times weekly, and entrenches Malaysia as the biggest travel
market for Jetstar from Singapore.
Jetstar also
operates to Kuala Lumpur (double daily), Kota Kinabalu and Kuching
from Singapore.
Jetstar is inviting value-savvy
intrepid travelers to enter to be one of 20 lucky participants in
the JetSaver Light Challenge.
The
JetSaver Light Challenge will involve ten teams of two flying to
Singapore to see how they can creatively experience Singapore on
RM70 a day – the savings gained by travelling JetSaver Light.
The participant with the most exciting and creative
itinerary with given budget of RM70 will win a year of free
flights from Penang to Singapore.
JetSaver Light is Jetstar’s new fare
class which allows travelers with only 10 kilograms of carry on
baggage, to fly for RM35 less per flight.
Jetstar Asia and
Valuair CEO Ms Chong Phit Lian said Jetstar’s new Singapore
service provided a great new value driven short break experience.
“Singapore is a perfect short break destination for
Malaysians and with our even lower JetSaver Light fares, budget
breaks are now even more accessible,” Ms Chong said. “With Singapore’s famous fantastic cheap hawker food,
affordable public transport and great attractions like Sentosa, we
have no doubt the participants will have a great opportunity to
show how much fun can be had on a budget flying with Jetstar.”
All competition participants will stay at the
Grand Mercure Roxy
in Singapore.
“Singapore has never been more
affordable to visit than right. With an ever expanding
number of routes by Jetstar – has also never been more
affordable to get to” added Evan Lewis Communications VP
for Accor Hotels. “The cost of accommodation in
Singapore has come to a level that will now appeal to
whole new travel market, that may have previously sought
alternative destinations.”
