Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Wednesday, 6 May 2009

AirAsia is preparing to launch its latest international route with direct daily flights between Perth and the exotic Indonesian island destination of Bali.

Seats for the new route are now available from IDR429,000 (A$139 nett). For Indonesia, the fare quoted is excluding airport tax and administration fees, for one way travel only. For Australia, the fare includes airport tax and administration fees, for one way travel only. The booking period is until 10 May, 2009 for travel between 17 July 2009 and 31 January 2010.

The route will be serviced by AirAsia Indonesia, an associate of AirAsia. The Bali – Perth service is the 5th international route operated from the Bali hub after Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Bangkok and Singapore.

AirAsia Indonesia is the second Indonesian airline to pass the strict regulations of the Foreign Airline Operating Certificate of Australia. This means the airline has met the requirements of the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASAA), demonstrating AirAsia’s high safety standard.

Dharmadi, CEO of AirAsia Indonesia, said, “Education is the main drive for closer Indonesia-Australia ties with approximately 19,000 Indonesian students studying in various parts of Australia. There are a large number of Indonesian communities living in Perth, so be it to renew social and family ties, a vacation or pursuing academic purposes, we anticipate that this new route will do very well.”

The new route will be served by AirAsia’s brand new Airbus A320 aircraft.
