On 7 October, 2009, it will be exactly 90 years
since KLM Royal Dutch Airlines was founded, and to celebrate the
airline is organising a range of activities to mark the
anniversary.
On the programme for May is the charitable
project Cycling Blue for Kenya.
Cycling Blue is a two-part project that revolves
around bicycles. The first part trains people to become cycle
repairers and sets up a cycle workshop in Kenya. The other part
finances bicycles for Kenyan children who live more than 10kms
from school. KLM is working on the project with the
charity Cycling Out of Poverty.
KLM is organising three events to raise money for Cycling Blue.
The first is a Spinning Marathon on Sunday, 10 May at the Amstel
Park/Achmea Health Center in Amsterdamse Bos, Amsterdam. This will
comprise six one-hour blocks.
On Sunday, 24 May,
there is a charity party “Out for Africa” at Club Panama in
Amsterdam with DJ Roog and more.
Finally, a
lecture by global cyclist Frank van Rijn will be held on
Wednesday, 27 May, at STRANDZUID, Amsterdam.
