Tourism New Zealands team from Australia is to
visit six main \centres in September, offering one-day seminars in
conjunction with the local regional tourism organisations (RTOs)
about the current situation in Australia.
Seminars will cover the economic situation in
Australia and outlook for travel, as well as Tourism New Zealands
marketing, trade and public relations strategies in this market
and an update on trans-Tasman aviation.
"Its clear that there is a great deal of
interest in Australia from New Zealand operators, particularly
with arrivals from this market continuing to perform strongly
despite the economic situation. Bringing Tourism New Zealands
Australian team to New Zealand will make it possible for a much
wider audience to attend from the main centres and surrounding
regions," said Tourism New Zealands Regional Manager Australia,
Barry Eddington.
"These seminars will give an update on whats
happening in this key market for New Zealand and help operators
and RTOs identify some of the opportunities Australia currently
offers. It will also help give a better understanding of how
operators can work with their RTO and get involved with and
support our campaign activity across the Tasman."
New Zealands visitor arrivals from Australia
were up 6% for the year to July 2009, despite an overall decrease
in arrivals of 2.8%.
The seminar is open to all operators that are
either Qualmark rated or endorsed, or operating at this level. The
content will be targeted at operators who are already working in
Australia. Registration is required as places are limited.
