The oneworld airlines are going to move to the
new Terminal 1 (T1) at Barcelona International Airport on 9
September 2009.
The new terminal is equipped with 696 solar
panels and automatic light regulation to address environmental
concerns. It has 101 boarding gates, 43 air bridges, 73 shops, 43
bars and restaurants, 166 check-in desks and more than 11,000 car
parking spaces.
Terminal 1 is located
10 km southwest from the city centre and 3 km from Terminal A. A
terminal bus runs between the two terminals.
In
2008 the airport served 30.2 million passengers. With the opening
of T1 its annual capacity will increase to 55 million passengers.
