The tour operator Gap Adventures has just
acquired the first hotel in what is to be a completely new hotel
brand - G Hotels. The first property under the brand's umbrella is
located in Quito, Ecuador.
Designated as an historical heritage site by the
city of Quito, the 24-room hotel will undergo refurbishment before
officially opening in July. Renovations include an overall
facelift and the addition of a meeting room for Gap Adventures
tour briefings.
“This is an exciting step for Gap Adventures. G
Hotels will be in locations were we tour most regularly and will
add to the unique experience our passengers have come to expect
from us,” said Bruce Poon Tip, CEO of Gap Adventures.
The Quito
property is the first of four hotels Gap Adventures plans on
acquiring in the coming year. Subsequent properties are schedule
to open between now and 2010 in Lima and Cusco in Peru, as well as
in Costa Rica.
Gap Adventures, first established by
Bruce Poon Tip in 1990, has grown from a one-man
show to an award winning company of over 700 employees. It
specialises in adventure travel, offering more
than 1,000 small group experiences, safaris and expeditions on all
seven continents to more than 100,000 travellers a year.
