The 16th Asian Games, part of the worldwide
Olympic movement and governed by the Olympic Council of Asia, has
selected seven hotels and hotel management companies to serve as
accommodation service providers in the seven zones of the
Athletes' Village and Media Village in the Asian Games Town during
the Games.
More than 12,000
athletes from 45 countries and regions are expected to compete in
42 sports at The 16th Asian Games, featuring every Olympic
discipline at last summer’s Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games -
including Baseball and Softball which have been dropped from the
2012 London Olympic Games.
Competition at The 16th Asian Games
also features non-Olympic sports, including: Golf, Bowling, Cricket, Rugby, Dragon Boat Racing, Dance Sport (i.e. Ballroom Dancing) and Chess.
The seven hotels and hotel management companies will
follow the example of the management model of the Beijing Olympic
Games' Olympic Village in providing accommodations and reception
services at the Asian Games Town. The selected hotels and hotel
management companies are:
White Swan Hotel
Guangzhou Dong Fang Hotel Group Co., Ltd. Guangdong Yihao
Hotel Management Company Guangdong New Baiyun Hotel Co.,
Ltd. Hotel Canton Co., Ltd. Hainan Airlines Hotel
(Group) Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou White Swan Hotel Property
Management Company
The 16th Asian Games will follow
Beijing's Olympic example used at the Olympic Village as
organizers for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad provided
accommodation services through a team of hotel management
companies, adopting a zone-based management model with cooperation
between hotel management companies.
The 16th Asian Games will be held in
“Flower City” of Guangzhou from November 12 - 27, 2010. More than 10,000 accredited and non-accredited worldwide
media are anticipated to cover the Games with more than three
million spectators expected to attend.
