Jetstar Asia launches JetSaver Light

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Wednesday, 29 April 2009

On Thursday, Jetstar Asia will launch an innovative new air fare product that provides customers with the choice to travel with carry on baggage only at a lower price point. The airline has also confirmed it is removing all separate additional administrative and insurance charges.

Following the commercial success of the JetSaver Light fare product within other international markets for the Jetstar Group, Jetstar Asia will now offer a Sin$ 15 one way discount to the available JetSaver fare when a customer purchases the new fare for future travel on its intra Asia network.

Jetstar has also increased its carry-on baggage limit for one standard size bag from the 7 kilogram limit to a higher 10 kilogram allowance.

In addition, the airline has said it will not have an extra fee for administrative and insurance charges, with the only additional charge now outside the base fare being fixed airport taxes.

“We’re keeping fares low, simple and transparent,”  said Jetstar Asia and Valuair CEO Ms Chong Phit Lian. “When passengers now book with Jetstar, you will only pay the fare plus the fixed airport taxes.

Jetstar has introduced JetSaver Light to all its 17 destinations served from Singapore, and matches a similar offering now available when flying Jetstar throughout South East Asian, Australasia and Asia Pacific route networks.

The airline’s most popular JetSaver fare product remains and will continue to include a 20 kilogram free checked-in baggage allowance per paying passenger.

By way of example, should a JetSaver one way fare be available for Sin$70 (plus airport tax), the JetSaver Light one way fare will be Sin$55 (plus airport tax).

Ms Chong said, “As has occurred across the wider Jetstar branded network, when you offer greater choice to customers, allowing them to pay only for the services they value, it actually creates more demand for travel.”

JetSaver Light fares can be purchased one-way or return providing passengers with the flexibility to save on one or more sectors.

It should be noted that existing customers with current JetSaver fares bookings cannot exchange their current booking to a JetSaver Light fare.
