AirAsia is to increase its popular Kuala Lumpur
-Trichy (Tiruchirappalli) services, with a second direct daily
flight commencing 1st September 2009.
The low cost airline currently serves the Trichy – Kuala Lumpur route with direct daily flights to Trichy
departing from the KL's LCC Terminal on AirAsia’s new 180-seater
Airbus A320.
Trichy situated in South India of Tamil Nadu,
was the first destination in India serviced by AirAsia and since
the inception on 1 December 2008, the Kuala Lumpur - Trichy route
has recorded consistently strong loads.
To date, AirAsia has flown close to 70,000 pax on the route in less than 8
months.
To celebrate the introduction of the 2nd Kuala
Lumpur -Trichy frequency, AirAsia will be offering all-in-fare
from RM129 (LKR 1730).
The promotional fare will be available between 28 July
and 2 August 2009
for travel between 1 September 2009 and 30 April 2010.
Kathleen Tan, Regional Head of
Commercial, AirAsia Group said, “Yet again, we are proud to be
servicing an underserved route and opening-up the market to the
world. We had always known that the Kuala Lumpur -Trichy route
will perform exceedingly well. Trichy is a highly popular and
desired destination amongst the Hindus in Malaysia as it has an
abundance of temples, which are popular pilgrimage sites for
Hindus. And there are already increasing visiting friends and
relatives travelers from Trichy who are progressively using
Kuala Lumpur as a connecting gateway to over 130 routes in ASEAN
and beyond. In fact within the first month of flying to India, we
have enjoyed a load factor of 100% on this route. We feel it is
timely to add a 2nd frequency, which is a reinforcement of our
growing interest in the Indian holiday demand.”
