Singapore visitor arrivals reached 771,000 in January
2009, registering a decline of 12.9% compared to January 2008. Visitor
days were estimated at 3.3 million days, a decrease of 6.9% in
comparison with January 2008.
Indonesia (118,000), P.R. China (105,000),
Australia (80,000), India (47,000), and Malaysia (44,000), were
Singapores top five visitor-generating markets. These markets
accounted for 51% of total visitor arrivals for the month.
Singapore gazetted hotels were estimated to generate Sin$124
million in room revenue, representing a decrease of 29.9% versus
January 2008.
The Average Room Rate (ARR) in January 2009
was estimated at Sin$209, representing a decrease of 11.7% over
January 2008.
The Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) for gazetted hotels
was estimated to reach 67% in January 2009, posting a 17.7
percentage point decrease over January 2008.
Revenue Per Available
Room (Revpar) decreased by 30.2% to reach Sin$140 for January 2009.
