Abacus FareX Helps Boost Korean Air Sales

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Tuesday, 27 October 2009

Korean Air bookings made through the Abacus channel have grown by over 30% year-on-year across the five key markets of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

This impressive result comes after the successful adoption of the Abacus FareX platform in these markets, supported by a massive joint tactical promotion. Specifically, the airline managed to register growth in ranging from a remarkable 110% in the Philippines to a stellar 228% in Thailand.

“In a tough economic climate such as we are currently experiencing, having access to a wide reaching distribution tool and pro-active in-market customer service support is critical to the airline business. The significant flight bookings made by the team at Abacus have had a strategic impact on our growth plans for the region. We would like to build on this to drive the crowds to our other major routes too,” said Mr Kang Dae Hwan, General Manager of Passenger Sales and Marketing for Korean Air in Southeast Asia & Oceania.

Given the successful results gained using Abacus FareX, Korean Air has subsequently launched an exclusive joint promotion with Abacus in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, providing travel consultants the chance to win Korean Air tickets and other attractive prizes. The marketing blitz for this promotion which started earlier this month, will continue until 10 November 2009.

Abacus FareX enables the creation, maintenance and distribution of net fares information to all points-of-sale around the clock and at any destination.
