Frasers Hospitality has extended its footprint
in the United Kingdom with the opening of Fraser Suites Edinburgh,
comprising 75 luxury serviced residences located on the city’s
prestigious ‘Royal Mile’.
The Edinburgh property is Singapore-based
Frasers Hospitality’s second property in Scotland and its twelfth
in the UK. The first was the 100-unit Fraser Suites Glasgow which
opened in 2007.
Fraser Suites Edinburgh captures the spirit of Edinburgh’s illustrious history in studio and one-bedroom
apartments created within the 200-year-old former Edinburgh City
Council building.
Careful renovation has protected the
building’s historic Victorian façade with interior restoration, where possible, to preserve the past, while interiors remodelling
provides the latest in luxury accommodation for business and
leisure travellers.
Standard features include iPod docking
stations and broadband Internet access, an on-site gym,
breakfast suite, restaurant and a complimentary city shuttle service.
To celebrate the launch, special rates of 96 GBP per night for a studio and 157 GBP per night for a one-bedroom unit
will apply until 21 June 2009.
Fraser Suites Edinburgh marks a
second ‘home coming’ for Frasers, whose founders, Scotsmen John Fraser and David Chalmers Neave, ventured to Singapore and in l883
incorporated Fraser & Neave Limited, which is now a conglomerate
with worldwide interests and from which Frasers takes its name
and entrepreneurial spirit.
“Edinburgh is a major centre for
business and tourism and is an integral part of our growth
strategy in Europe. Globally, we are on track to grow from our current 4,727 serviced residences to more than 9,000 units by
2011,” said Mr Guus Bakker, Frasers Hospitality’s Chief
Operating Officer for Europe and the Middle East.
With the
opening of Fraser Suites Edinburgh, Frasers now operates a total
of 12 properties in Europe including eight in London, one in
Glasgow and two in Paris.
Frasers currently operates 31
serviced residence properties in the Far East, Australia and
Europe and will open new properties this year in Bahrain,
Budapest, China, Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore.
