Swire Hotels has appointed the leadership team
that will open Hong Kong’s new 'lifestyle business hotel' EAST.
The hotel is scheduled to open January 2010 at the landmark
'Island East' development in Quarry Bay.
Taking the lead role at EAST will be
Warren Tam
who has been appointed General Manager. A Swiss hotel school
graduate with an MBA in Hotel and Tourism Management, the veteran
hotelier has risen through the ranks both regionally and worldwide
over the past two decades with various internationally acclaimed
hotel chains, including Hyatt International and InterContinental.
His Executive Assistant Manager
Tony Chick also
studied hotel management in Switzerland before launching his
career at The Regent Hong Kong. Tony subsequently worked at Hyatt
Regency Hong Kong and Royal Garden Hong Kong, before extending his
experience at Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao, The Kerry Center Hotel
Beijing and Hyatt Regency, Tianjin.
Director of
Sales & Marketing Jennifer Cheung, another Swiss hotel management
school graduate, began her sales career at Shangri-La Shanghai and
joins EAST from the Langham Place, Hong Kong, where she continued to
develop her expertise in the field of sales and marketing.
Frances Mak, who graduated from a hotel management school
in Canada, has been appointed as Public Relations Manager. She started her
career at New World Hotel and The Regent Hong Kong. She was
previously Communications Manager at The Mira Hotel (former Hotel
Miramar).
Behind
the EAST Café and the Rooftop Bar & Deck is Executive Chef
Eddy
Leung. Eddy has led kitchen teams in various 5-star Hong Kong
hotels including the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Hyatt and The Peninsula,
consulting and instructing on the latest trends in world-class
luxury dining. Eddy is frequently invited to judge at
international culinary competitions and has also won many
prestigious awards including the Gold Award of Hong Kong Food
Festival Culinary Awards, Western Cuisine in 1995, and, Silver
Medal of Buffer Meal Combination Competition in 1994.
EAST features services such as a paperless front-desk
which means guests need only check-in on their first visit, and
use express check-in and pre-registration prior to arrival
thereafter.
The hotel is located at Island East in Quarry Bay, a new home to over 300 multinationals
including some of the most prestigious Fortune 500 corporations.
The hotel is adjacent to Tai Koo MTR station and is a
short drive away from Central and Causeway Bay.
EAST will be Swire Hotels' third hotel. The Opposite House opened
in Beijing in 2008 and The Upper House opens at Pacific Place in
Admiralty, Hong Kong in October 2009.
