Tiger Airways has confirmed it will double the
number of daily flights between Sydney and the Gold Coast of
Australia. The
announcement comes just weeks after doubling the number of flights
to Sydney from Melbourne and Adelaide.
Tiger Airways Australia Managing Director,
Shelley Roberts, said demand for Tiger Airways’ consistently low
fares across Australia has been “phenomenal - evidenced by the
continued growth and expansion of Tiger Airways Australia at a
time when so many competitors are cutting back and streamlining.”
Last week, Tiger Airways announced a
new
aircraft for Australia to be based in Adelaide from early 2010 and
an increase in flights from Melbourne to popular destinations
Hobart, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Adelaide.
Now, the airline is adding an additional daily flight between
Sydney and Gold Coast, with fares on sale from just A$39 for
flights commencing from early February 2010.
“With
the additional flights between Sydney and Gold Coast, Tiger
Airways will be flying 162 weekly services through Sydney from
early 2010. That’s equivalent to over 1.5 million seats annually
to/from Sydney, making Sydney one of our top domestic destinations
- a ‘virtual base’ for Tiger,” Ms Roberts said.
Tiger
Airways commenced flying into Sydney from Melbourne on 3 July
2009, with four flights daily and commenced daily flights between
Adelaide and Sydney on 31 July 2009.
Flights on the new Sydney – Gold Coast
route commence from 15 December 2009 with one daily flight. Fares
are on sale now from just A$39 one way. Two daily flights on the
Sydney – Gold Coast route commence from 5 February 2010.
