Marriott has expanded its Courtyard by Marriott brand
into the United Kingdom with the opening of the 218-room Courtyard by
Marriott London Gatwick Airport, under a franchise agreement with Kew
Green Hotels. The general manager of the new hotel is Janey Sheehan.
To celebrate its opening, the hotel
is currently offering a special introductory rate of £69 (US$95) per night.
The Courtyard by Marriott London Gatwick
Airport is conveniently located within reach of the airport’s
South Terminal, with direct access to the M23 and surrounding
motorways. Travelers can also enjoy easy access to central London, the
hotel being just a short 30 minute ride from London’s Victoria
station via Gatwick Express train.

direction in the United Kingdom and Europe, keeping the brand
fresh and relevant to today’s traveler,” said Jurgen Giesbert,
executive vice-president for Marriott’s United Kingdom, Middle
East and Africa region. “Business travelers today are looking for
quality and innovation as well as service and style at a fair
price. We are confident that this new contemporary Courtyard with
its distinctive European flair will be a big hit with travelers
from around the globe, offering value and consistency of product
and service for which Courtyard is known.”

Gatwick Airport’s well-appointed guest rooms feature luxury bedding, modern
bathrooms, ergonomically designed desks and chairs, high speed
Wi-Fi internet access, coffee/tea maker, iron and ironing board,
and a flat-screen television. Twenty-two junior suites are
available which include additional amenities such as a sofa, fresh
coffee machine and plush robes.
Dining options include
all-day casual dining in the lounge and Volare Restaurant, which
features a Mediterranean inspired menu and is open in the
evenings. The hotel also features a 24-hour “Marketplace” in the
lobby, offering snacks, drinks and a few travel essentials.
Additional features of the hotel include a fitness center and
three meeting rooms with 1,200 square feet of meeting space.
In
addition to Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel, the Courtyard by
Marriott London Gatwick Airport offers guests a dedicated business
center in the lobby where travelers can check-in and print out
boarding cards and view flight information on computer terminals.
A foreign exchange service is also available.
