Accor has expanded its portfolio of hotels in
Japan with the signing of a management agreement for a Mercure
Hotel in Yokosuka. The hotel is scheduled to open in September
2009.
The 160 room hotel is around 50 kilometres from down town Tokyo, in the thriving port and
industrial city of Yokosuka. The hotel is located near the US Yokosuka Naval Base and within a complex which houses a
shopping arcade and arts theatre.
The Mercure Yokosuka will be
the fourth Mercure Hotel in Japan - Mercure Ginza, Mercure Narita
and the newly opened Mercure Sapporo.
Patrick Basset - Vice
President Accor - Japan, South Korea, Philippines and Vietnam said, “It is an exciting year for the Mercure brand in Japan and
throughout Asia Pacific, where 13 Mercure hotels will open
in 2009. This burst of mid scale hotel development is an
indication of an increase in demand by owners and developers,
seeking the reassurance of recognised hotel brands and the
expertise of international hotel companies.”
The Mercure Yokosuka
will feature a restaurant and lounge as well as 8 meeting rooms,
including a ballroom of over 500 square metres.
