Melanie Millin-Moore has joined Red Carnation
Hotels as International Public Relations Executive.
Priorities on
her agenda are the relaunch on a October 2009 of Umhlanga's luxury
seafront hotel, the iconic The Oyster Box; and the upgrade of Cape
Town's extensively refurbished Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa.
"These two properties are jewels in the crown of South
African holidaymaking," Melanie said. "They are hallmark
destinations in two major tourism centres and beacons on each
city's social circuit. Unveiling them both this summer ahead of
the tourism rush for the 2010 World Cup celebrations is an
exciting start to my latest corporate appointment.”
Red Carnation Hotels is owned by the Tollman family, which
also controls Cullinan Holdings Ltd, a public company that owns
Thompsons Travel Group, one of South Africa's largest tour operators.
Melanie's appointment marks the beginning of an extensive
marketing campaign for the hotel group's 4 and 5-star properties,
which include the Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Wellness
Retreat in the Cederberg of the Western Cape.
This latter
property also features in the exclusive Relais & Chateaux
worldwide catalogue.
Red
Carnations Hotels began in 1984 with The Chesterfield in London's
Mayfair, which was soon twinned with The Chesterfield in Florida's
exclusive Palm Beach. The collection has since grown
with hotels in London, in prime tourism locations in Kensington,
Bloomsbury, Knightsbridge and opposite Buckingham Palace. These
award-winning properties are matched by the Hotel d'Angleterre on
Geneva Lake in Switzerland, and the group’s South African
destinations.
Melanie Millin-Moore has helped set the pace for innovation at the high end of South Africa's leisure market since
the opening of the Sun City resort in the Pilanesberg three
decades ago.
When that hotel group evolved into
Kerzner International, Melanie moved base to London and New York
to launch resorts on a similar scale in the Caribbean and North
and Central America. As an independent media consultant based in
Johannesburg from 2005, she organised the South African media
coverage of the opening of the Dubai Atlantis last summer.
At that time Melanie began discussing fresh opportunities
in the tourism market with Red Carnation Hotels, whose combination
of high-end hotels and specific target markets she sees as the
future of the industry in Africa.
Melanie's corporate marketing brief spans the
entire, comprehensive brand portfolio of Cullinan Holdings Ltd,
which is listed on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange and is the
foremost Travel and Leisure company in Southern Africa.
