Jin Air, a low-cost short-haul carrier
established in 2008 by Korean Air, is to launch international
flight operations on 29 October 2009.
The first international flights will
be between Incheon-Bangkok and Incheon-Macau.
Daily flights on the Incheon-Bangkok route will depart Seoul/Incheon
at 08:00 and arrive in Bangkok at 11:50 the same day.
The return flight will depart Bangkok at 13:15 and return to
Seoul/Incheon at 20:20 the same day.
Jin Air will operate four flights per week between Seoul/Incheon
and Macau. Operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays,
the flights will depart Seoul/Incheon at 21:40 and arrive in
Macau at 00:20 the next day.
The return flights will depart
Macau at 01:40 and return to Seoul/Incheon at 06:10 the
same day.
Reservations for both routes will be
available at travel agencies from August and at Jin Air’s website, from
1 September.
After these inaugural routes, Jin Air
plans to operate daily flights to Osaka, Japan and Wuhan, China
from December, and will start serving Guam next January.
Light snacks will be provided during the flights, but
passengers will have to pay for alcoholic beverages such as beer.
Save the Air
Starting from September, Jin Air
which has just unveiled its new slogan “Save the Air”, will
provide “No Baggage Green Coupons” to passengers traveling without
checked-baggage.
Passengers holding only carry-on baggage will be
provided with 1,000 point coupons which can be used at a value of
KRW 1,000 when flying with Jin Air.
To encourage passengers to
take part in the environmental movement, the carrier will also start selling T-shirts with prints of the new
slogan “Save the Air” sketched by celebrities. The T-shirts will
be available on the airline’s website from
September and all profits will be donated to environmental groups.
In addition, Jin Air will donate all profits earned through the
Sony PSP inflight rental service to various environmental groups.
The airline will also join in global green activities by
officially registering at the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) National Committee for the Republic of Korea.
“For the past year, we have proved ourselves as a
leading global premium low-cost carrier with global safety
standards and quality service provided at a reasonable price,”
said Jae-Kun Kim, CEO of Jin Air. “Our new international operation
will be another chance for us to demonstrate the best of Jin Air
for our customers, including our green initiatives as a part of
social responsibility.”
