[video below] The Hua Hin Vintage Car Parade returns to the
royal resort this coming weekend with all its usual glamour and
panache. Organised by the Sofitel Centara Grand Resort & Villas,
Hua Hin on behalf of the Hua Hin Hoteliers Club and Vintage Car
Club of Thailand with the support of the Tourism Authority of
Thailand and Hua Hin Municipality, the resorts top event will be
held 18 - 20 December 2009.
The three-day rally
brings together the countrys passionate collectors for a
stunning display of vintage cars. The aim of the rally is to raise
awareness of Hua Hin as a destination, increase product and brand
loyalty to communities in Thailand and abroad, and give the public
a chance to view the vintage cars. The rally also marks the
auspicious occasion of the 100th anniversary of Hua Hin.
As usual, this year part of the proceeds generated from the event
will be donated to the Chaipattana Foundation. Initiated by His
Majesty King Bhumibhol of Thailand, the Chaipattana Foundation is
renowned for projects dedicated to improving quality of life and
self-reliance.
This year, the Hua Hin Vintage Car Parade
features a fun-filled programme of activities and fine dining,
most of which will take place at the Sofitel Centara Grand Resort
& Villas, Hua Hin.
Fifty vintage cars will take
part in the parade which will also feature period costumes, a 50-metre-long buffet, and a fabulous gala dinner.
Participants will assemble at the Centara Grand at Central World Bangkok on Friday 18th December 2009 at 7.00 am. The
vehicles will then leave the hotel at 8 am. to embark on a
225-kilometre journey to the Sofitel Centara Grand Resort & Villas, Hua Hin.
En-route,
there will be stops at King Rama II Park in Samutsongkram for
sightseeing and a morning coffee break before proceeding to Kaeng
Kracharn in Phetchburi for lunch. The afternoon will include
breaks for refreshment at Alila Resort in Cha-Am and the Sheraton
Hua Hin Resort & Spa before finally arriving at the Sofitel Centara
Grand Resort & Villas Hua Hin at 5.00 pm.
Now in its 7th
year, the Vintage Car Rally will feature a welcome
dinner at Market Village with a 50-metre-long buffet of 100
dishes cooked by chefs from the five-star member
hotels of the Hua Hin Hoteliers Club. Live entertainment will
compliment the evenings dining. The dinner is also open to the
public at Baht 250 net per person. All proceeds generated from
this activity will be donated to Chaipattana Foundation.
On
Saturday 19th December, the vintage car parade will drive to
Sirinart Rachinee Mangrove Ecosystem Learning Centre in Pranburi
for lunch and sightseeing.
After the Sirinart Rachinee
Centre visit, the parade will return to the Sofitel Centara Grand
Resort & Villas, Hua Hin. The public can then enjoy a ride in a
rare vintage car for 250 baht per trip, with all money raised
going to charity. This event will take place from 2.00 pm until
4.00 pm. Again, all the proceeds generated from ticket sales will
be donated to the Chaipattana Foundation.
Around 5.30 pm on
the 19th of December, the Vintage Car Parade will tour Hua Hin.
All participants will dress up in period Thai costume to mark the
100th anniversary of Hua Hin.
After returning to the hotel,
participants will join a cocktail reception in the Elephant Garden
during the evening before proceeding to the gala dinner, where
they will be able to enjoy a
gourmet buffet and entertainment. The
theme for this dinner will be the Grand Hua Hin Night
Market, serving authentic Thai food, a live band, charity
auctions, lucky draws with chances to win room packages to stay at
various Accor and Centara hotels, and a period
costume competition. Tickets for the gala dinner are priced at
Baht 2,000 net per person.
