US Airways flight 1549 was only moments into a flight
to Charlotte from LaGuardia when it made a crash landing into the icy
water of the Hudson River.
The plane, an Airbus A320, had 150 passengers and 5 crew (two
pilots and three flight attendants) on board. No fatalities have been
reported although some passengers were treated for injuries, most
minor.
The flight was originally scheduled for
departure at 2:45 p.m. Eastern Time. The flight's actual time of
departure was 3:03 p.m. Eastern Time.
Investigations are now ongoing, however it is
believed birds caused the aircraft to experience engine failure
leading to the crash water-landing.
