Europcar will soon issue its Australian
customers rental invoices containing information about a vehicle’s
CO2 emissions.
The new invoicing system including CO2 data was
recently rolled out in New Zealand, garnering an enthusiastic
response from both customers and the motoring industry.
Europcar customers in Belgium, France, Germany,
Italy, Portugal, Spain and the UK also receive invoices with CO2
emissions data.
It’s expected the new carbon emissions data will
be available for Australian customers in the next month or so.
The CO2 calculation is based on the vehicle type
and model as well as the distance travelled.
The CO2 invoicing system follows a new supply
agreement between Europcar and Audi, which will see Europcar add
150 new Audi A3 Sportback 1.9 TDI E models to its fleet.
Europcar’s new Audi A3 Sportback boasts an
average fuel consumption of just 4.5-litres per 100km. The A3
models are part of a new range of Audi cars tuned specifically to
cut consumption and still deliver engaging dynamic performance via
a range of hi-tech engineering refinements.
In Australia Europcar also operates a
carbon-offset program in partnership with not-for-profit
environmental organisation Greenfleet, which specialises in
reducing the environmental impacts of the transport industry. As
part of the Greenfleet program, Europcar plants 17 trees for each
new car that is added to its fleet. Individual customers also can
donate $3 to the Greenfleet program every time they hire a car.
Group marketing manager Europcar Australia and
New Zealand Ashley Jurberg said Europcar’s new format for rental
invoices would cater to an increasing trend among the nation’s
corporate customers, who were making their own commitments to
corporate social responsibility by setting specific environmental
criteria for accrediting their suppliers.
