Carlson Hotels is opening its 10th property in
China this week. The Park Plaza Beijing West, a 263-room
property, is located at the end of Beijing’s Chang An Boulevard, next
to the Wukesong Arena.
“The opening of this hotel comes at a time when
demand for upper mid-scale hotel rooms is on the rise in China.
Our Park Plaza properties are particularly ideal for
cost-conscious business travellers seeking affordable yet quality
accommodation with consistent standards,” said Jean-Marc Busato,
managing director – Asia Pacific, Carlson Hotels Worldwide.
The new Park Plaza Beijing West hotel will provide
complimentary high speed internet access to all guests. The hotel
also has a selection of dining and entertainment choices, as well as
meeting rooms and a ballroom for small seminars and conferences.
It will be the third Park Plaza hotel in Beijing.
“Although we continue to value opportunities in key gateway cities
such as Beijing and Shanghai, we are also focusing on developments
in secondary and tertiary markets,” added Busato. “We currently
have hotels under development in other fast-growing markets such
as Chongqing, Liuzhou, Sanya and Shenyang.”
Carlson Hotels currently has 49 hotels in operation across
the Asia Pacific region or more
than 9,000 rooms, and another 75 properties under development or
over 12,000 rooms, including a Park Plaza property in Lhasa,
Tibet.
The group has seven hotels
under development in China, which will add close to 2,000 rooms to
its Radisson Hotels & Resorts and Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts
brands, within the next three years.
