Mr Rutger Verschuren has been appointed as
Complex General Manager for the complex of Sheraton Tripoli Hotels
and Four Points by Sheraton Tripoli.
The Four Points by Sheraton Tripoli is scheduled
to open early 2010 and Sheraton Tripoli 3Q 2010.
Rutger
Verschuren joined Starwood mid 2008 as Managing Director of the
4067 room Sheraton Macau Cotai Strip. Prior to this, Rutger was
Vice-President of Operations for Dusit International in Thailand
for over 7 years. A Dutch national, he graduated from the
Hotelschool The Hague in 1986.
Sheraton Tripoli Hotel and
Four Points by Sheraton Tripoli will form part of a mixed-used
development including a luxurious marina, retail space and offices
to be known as Andalous Center, adjacent to the planned new
People’s Conference Hall.
Both hotels will be situated on
Mediterranean beachfront, minutes from the center of Tripoli, the
historic, seaside capital of Libya.
The strategic beachfront location will enable the
two hotels to offer direct beach access to its guests, as well as
proximity to the elegant, colonial downtown area of Tripoli where
guests can explore traditional bazaars and the atmospheric Medina
– a labyrinth of alleys and Ottoman monuments.
One of the biggest
countries on the African continent, Libya boasts a thriving
economy and spectacular desert
landscapes as well as five UNESCO classified sites.
The
Sheraton Tripoli Hotel will offer 295 rooms, including 55 suites,
a large selection of restaurants and bars as well as a spacious
spa, a fitness center, plus meeting space, comprised of a ballroom
and 13 meeting rooms.
The Four Points by Sheraton Tripoli will
be adjacent to the Sheraton Tripoli and will consist of 205 rooms,
restaurants, bars, meetings rooms, indoor and outdoor pools and a
fitness center.
The complex will also include 56 apartments,
located along the marina.
