Outrigger Enterprises Group has appointed Damian
Clowes as vice president - corporate services for Outrigger's Asia
division located in Outrigger's Asia regional office in Phuket,
Thailand.
In this newly created position, Mr. Clowes will
be responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring the
administrative, legal and tax functions for Outrigger's rapidly
growing portfolio in Asia.
"Damian Clowes will fill a key
role for Outrigger's continuing expansion into Asia," said David
Carey, president and chief executive officer of Outrigger. "In the
short period of time that we have targeted Southeast Asia as an
area of growth for our company, we have two hotels open and
operating in Bali and Phuket, another hotel scheduled to open in
Phuket on December 1, 2009, signed contracts for two additional
hotels in Bali and Sanya, Hainan Island, China, and are
negotiating for additional properties in Phuket, Vietnam and
India."
Mr. Clowes has 20 years of prior legal
experience, most recently as associate general counsel with
Outrigger's head office in Honolulu since 2008. He was admitted as
a lawyer in Australia, where he worked in both private practice
for Deacons and in-house for Trust Company of Australia Limited.
He moved to Vietnam with Deacons in 1997 where he became the
firm's managing lawyer. In 2000, he opened PricewaterhouseCoopers'
Vietnam legal practice, where he was managing partner for seven
years. Prior to joining Outrigger he was country manager for Rouse
& Co. International in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with an
emphasis on commercial and intellectual property matters. Mr.
Clowes has had extensive experience with finance, corporate and
real estate transactions, and human resource matters, in Asia and
Australia.
Prior to beginning his professional career, Mr.
Clowes received his Bachelor of Laws (with Honors) from the
University of Queensland.
