Anticipating a January 2010 Grand Opening, the
Life Resorts Management company has selected a team of seasoned
general managers to spearhead the launch of the Life Resort Danang.
The two managers - Michelle Ford and Cyrille
Stegmann, both from South Africa - previously worked as the
general management team at the Life Wellness Resort Quy Nhon.
After studying hotel management in
South Africa, Michelle Ford embarked upon a management career in
Africa, the Middle East, United Kingdom and Asia. At the Raffles
Spa Academy, she studied spa management and later managed a groups
of spas in Asia.
Cyrille Stegmann earned a degree
in hospitality management with the prestigious César Ritz
Hospitality Management School in Switzerland before moving on to
work in top hotels and resorts in America, United Arab Emirates,
Africa, Europe and Asia. His career spans hospitality postings in
both city and remote locations. He has specialized in
pre-openings.
The 187-room Life Resort Danang is under
development by Hoang Tra Travel and Trading Co. and will be
managed by Life Resorts.
“With
Michelle and Cyrille, we’ve tapped the resources of a team who
already know what it means to manage a beach resort in Vietnam,”
said Chris Duffy, general director of Life Resorts Management.
“They’ll be making all the particular decisions that spell the
difference between an informed launch and an uninformed launch.”
The resort’s initial design calls for innovative food
& beverage outlets, including a 250-seat restaurant featuring an
East-meets-West show kitchen and a lobby bar with a panoramic
ocean view. The resort’s international conference, meeting and
banqueting facilities can accommodate functions of any scale, from
small planning sessions to elaborate conferences for up to 750
people. Facilities include a day spa, a fully equipped fitness
center and tennis courts.
Two low rise hotel
buildings will house most of the resort’s rooms, including 17
suites. Eleven stand-alone villas will flank one side of a long
pool corridor splicing the middle of the resort.
The new Life property boasts proximity to three UNESCO World
Heritage sites — Hoi An (15km), Hue (90km distant) and My Son (40
km), the former colonial French hill stations at Bach Ma and Ba
Na, the Marble Mountains, Son Tra Peninsula, Lang Co and the Hai
Van Headlands.
