Tiger Airways has welcomed the decision by regulatory
authorities in Singapore to designate it as a 'boutique airline' giving
Tiger Airways important access to key cities in Indonesia including
Jakarta and Denpasar(Bali).
Rosalynn Tay, Managing Director of Tiger Airways
Singapore said, "The aviation authorities in Singapore and
Indonesia should be congratulated for agreeing further
liberalization between the two countries that will now provide
Tiger Airways with the ability to launch services on key routes
such as Singapore - Jakarta. By continuing to liberalize the skies
both countries are ensuring that their tourism industries and
wider economies get a significant boost from additional low fare
airline capacity – welcome news for the many people who travel
between Indonesia and Singapore on a regular basis and the 10,000s
of people who jobs depend on the continued expansion of the
tourism industries."
As part of the designation Tiger Airways must
provide an enhanced product offering which meets the
requirements of the boutique airline criteria on all of its routes
between Singapore and Indonesia. The Harimau service will provide
travellers on such flights with an additional complementary
onboard offerings without compromising Tiger Airways’ low fares.
Tiger Airways is currently finalizing with
authorities in both countries flight schedules for its new
services to Indonesia and is expected to confirm fares and
schedules in the near future.
