Vivienne Willison, Sales Director for the Malta-based Corinthia Hotels International has been appointed to fill Corinthia’s seat on the Africa Travel Association’s (ATA) International Board of Directors.

ATA, based in New York, is a professional travel industry association promoting tourism to the continent of Africa. Willison will participate in her first ATA Board meeting at the upcoming 33rd International Congress of the Africa Travel Association, which will take place May 19-23, 2008 in Arusha, Tanzania.

Eddie Bergman, ATA Executive Director, said, “We are pleased that by appointing someone at Ms. Willison’s level, Corinthia Hotels International will take a leadership role in the further growth and development of ATA. We are confident that ATA and our members will benefit from the expertise CHI already has in the African market.”

CHI, already one of the fastest growing hospitality chains in Europe and Mediterranean regions, is also on a major expansion track in Africa, through its joint venture agreement to operate the Wyndham and Ramada Brands in Africa, as well as managing its own Corinthia Hotels Luxury Brand.

On the continent, this includes the Corinthia Atlantic Hotel in The Gambia, The Ramada Plaza Tunis in Tunisia, the five-star Corinthia Bab Africa Hotel in Libya, the Wyndham Port Lixus Resort in Morocco opening 2010, the Corinthia Hotel Algiers opening 2009/2010 and the Benghazi hotel in Libya opening 2010.

CHI is also close to confirming a multi-property deal in Egypt, while also looking at several other hotel management propositions throughout the African continent.
