W Hotels
first hotel in China, the W Hong Kong, scheduled to officially debut in September
2008, has confirmed that it open a selection of rooms in early August, about one week prior to the
commencement of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
W Hong Kong will feature 393 luxurious guest rooms with unobstructed views of the
famed Hong Kong skyline, a lavish spa to awaken the senses, a state-of the- art gym, 8,200 square feet of convertible meeting space, and
two world-class signature restaurants and a destination bar.
The
W Hong Kong is located in the heart of the city’s burgeoning West Kowloon commercial,
entertainment, and cultural district. The new hotel will be the closest structure to the city’s newest commercial landmark, the International
Commerce Centre, and the only hotel connected to the city’s celebrated Elements shopping mall.
W Hong Kong will mark the W brand’s third hotel in Asia with other W
Hotels planned to open in Bangkok, Guangzhou, Macao-Studio City, Shanghai and Yokohama.
W Hong Kong will offer some of the city’s most spacious guest rooms, outfitted with the finest audio/video technology including standard
High Definition Sharp 42” LCD televisions, KEF 5.1 surround sound systems with DVD /CD players, i-Pod docking stations and bathtub
LCD screens. The rooms will all have both wired and wireless high-speed Internet access as well as generous workstations for business
travelers. W Hong Kong will also boast the city’s most highly elevated swimming pool at 700 feet above street level, and will introduce Hong
Kong to Bliss spa, which originated at the world’s very first W in New York City.
Guest rooms will feature designs by Australian firm g+a [nicholas graham + associates] and renowned Japanese firm Glamorous on
alternate floors. Of the 393 rooms, 42 will be Bang & Olufsen fitted suites, including one 2,200 square-foot Extreme WOW Suite, which
promises to be a modern lifestyle phenomenon, even by Hong Kong standards. All rooms and suites will feature the signature W bed and
its standard 400 thread count linens complemented by goose-down pillows and duvets.
Signature restaurants Fire and Kitchen
will feature cuisine under the leadership of celebrated New Zealand-born Executive Chef, Michael
Poutawa. The hotel will also draw both
guests and locals alike with sizzling food and beverage offerings from W’s destination bar, where a live
deejay will spin music for chilling day and night.
W Hong Kong is fashioning its event space for
medium-sized groups who seek the highest level in A/V technology and facilities. The hotel will offer more than 10,000 square feet of total
function and pre-function space and eight possible meeting rooms. W Hong Kong will also offer new variations of the W brand’s signature
Sensory Setups and Recess activities.
