FlyFreeForHealth,
a borderless healthcare and lifestyle multi-media platform, officially launched in Asia
on Thursday. Supported by the Singapore Tourism Board and Tourism Authority of Thailand,
FlyFreeForHealth
allows international medical travellers to seamlessly combine their health
and lifestyle needs at the click of a mouse.
The launch of FlyFreeForHealth is strategically timed, given that the present global medical tourism market, estimated to be in the range of
US$40 to $60 billion, is experiencing an annual growth rate of 20%. Fuelled by the advent of lower-cost flights, higher
individual mobility, as well as global disparities in healthcare systems, FlyFreeForHealth's unique offerings are well poised to take
advantage of a tremendous upswing in medical tourism in Asia.
"Until today, there isn't a consumer-centric medical tourism platform that truly accommodates the needs of a medical traveller who come to
this part of the world to seek affordable healthcare," said Dr Wei Siang Yu, Founder of FlyFreeForHealth. "FlyFreeForHealth can fill this gap,
by providing a one-stop access to top-class healthcare providers and a range of travel, leisure and lifestyle incentives to enhance his or her
experience. Given the U.S. recession, and an increasingly inefficient healthcare system in Europe, the launch of FlyFreeForHealth is
definitely well-timed to meet the demands of these medical travellers."
Khun Pornthip
Makornpan, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand, Singapore, added, "Today, we are seeing an increasing number of patients who are willing to travel to different parts of the world to seek quality healthcare
and medical treatments, while at the same time, experience what the country has to offer. FlyFreeForHealth's access to world-class
healthcare providers, coupled with its wide range of lifestyle offerings, makes it a valuable, one-stop platform for the discerning medical
traveller."
Thailand's Phyathai Hospital and some of Singapore's reputable specialists, including Dr Suresh Nair, Dr Marco Faria-Correa and Dr Leslie
Kuek, are already supporting FlyFreeForHealth on its mission while popular retailers such as Watsons have jumped on the bandwagon.
More recently, global hotel group, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, has agreed to become the strategic partner for FlyFreeForHealth's member
accommodation needs. This is arguably the first time that healthcare and lifestyle providers in Singapore and Thailand are converging on a
single platform in a bold bid to tap into the burgeoning medical tourism market, which is projected to
grow into a US$188 billion global business by 2013 (according to the International Trade Commission in Geneva).
