Lawry’s The Prime Rib,
a traditional American prime-rib restaurant famous for its tableside carvery service of classic prime ribs of beef,
has opened its first restaurant in mainland China, in Shanghai’s popular Xintiandi entertainment
district. It is the brand’s fifth restaurant in Asia, and the ninth in the world.
Lawry’s Shanghai
opened in partnership with m.a.x. concepts, the contemporary restaurant division of Hong Kong Maxim's Group, one of
Hong Kong’s largest restaurant operators.
Lawry’s is renowned for warm hospitality, good value and elegantly serving the finest certified aged, corn-fed prime ribs of beef
hand-carved tableside from the trademark custom made 500-pound silver carts.
Each diner at Lawry’s The Prime Rib is presented with the Famous Original Spinning Bowl Salad, tossed tableside on a bed of ice with their
very own vintage sherry dressing.
The traditionally dressed dining room servers then call for the Carver, who arrives at each table with his gleaming
silver cart. Actually
made out of hand hammered stainless steel, the prime rib cart contains Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, creamed
spinach, and buttered peas.
The whole meal is prepared tableside, and then is capped off with the oven baked Yorkshire Pudding, the perfect accompaniment to Prime
Rib.
The signature menu items of roasted prime ribs come in four different
cuts. The Lawry Cut (RMB 460) is the original 10oz cut, The
California Cut (6oz) (RMB 335) is a smaller cut for lighter appetites, The English Cut
(7.5oz) (RMB 370) is thin slices deftly carved to heighten the rich beef flavour and The Diamond Jim Brady Cut (16oz) (RMB 560) is an extra-thick portion for beef lovers.
Some of Lawry’s alternative popular main courses are the
seafood dishes, which vary daily and are prepared by the
Executive Chef, and some of the signature starters include Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Lobster Bisque, sizzling mushrooms and Atlantic
lobster tails.
Lawry’s extensive wine list features over 120 selections of champagne, and red and white wines from around the world, with an emphasis
on fine Californian wines. Lawry’s also features its own private wine labels of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and a Chardonnay.
Following the tradition of Lawry’s other locations around the world, the interior boasts sophisticated and elegant dark woods, Art Deco
styling, and beautiful artwork. This makes Lawry’s The Prime Rib Shanghai an ideal destination for business entertainment,
special celebrations, family gatherings and wedding banquets. The
restaurant has four private dining rooms available on request for more intimate occasions.
Lawry’s The Prime Rib’s other Asian restaurants are in Singapore, Tokyo, Taipei and Hong Kong, complementing the four original Lawry’s
The Prime Rib locations in the United States: in Beverly Hills, Chicago, Dallas and Las Vegas.
