Mandarin Oriental
has made the following two new General Manager appointments at the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas and Mandarin
Oriental, Singapore, hotels effective April 2008.
Rajesh
Jhingon, most recently employed as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, has been appointed General Manager of
the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas, which is scheduled to open in 2009. Mr Jhingon has guided Mandarin Oriental, Singapore through an
extensive renovation and renaming exercise, successfully repositioning it as one of the leading luxury hotels in the city.
Mr Jhingon moves
to Las Vegas to oversee the opening of Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas, located in the heart of the famed “Strip”, ideally situated at the
entrance of MGM CityCenter. The hotel will have 392 spacious guestrooms and suites, a variety of dining and
cocktail venues and a 32,000 square foot Spa. Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Mr Jhingon was General Manager of the Taj Exotica Resort and Spa,
Maldives and the Amarvilas, Agra in India. He has also held various senior managerial positions with The Oberoi Group both in New Delhi
and Bombay.
Paul
Jones, most recently Hotel Manager of the
group’s legendary property, The Oriental, Bangkok will
become General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore. For the last two and a half years, Mr Jones has been responsible for day to day
operations of The Oriental and has overseen a number of refurbishment projects at
the hotel, including the renovation of The China House, Sala Rim Naam Thai restaurant and the creation of the celebrated Ayurvedic Centre at the Spa. Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental, Mr Jones
spent six years in India with the Oberoi Group as General Manager of The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur as well as The Oberoi
Vanyavilas, Ranthambhore.
Mandarin Oriental now operates, or has under development, over 10,000 rooms in 23 countries with 16 hotels in Asia, 14 in
the Americas and nine in Europe and North Africa.
