Following a tender involving six service providers, Relais & Châteaux has selected SynXis, a subsidiary of the worldwide travel marketplace
leader Sabre Holdings, as its international reservations provider.
SynXis’ RedX Distribution Management System will
provide Relais & Châteaux with a technical platform integrating 500,000 travel agents (through the Global Distribution Systems, or
GDS, under the unique chain code WB), 15 million annual internet users of the website
relaischateaux.com and, using SynXis’ special Voice Agent
technology, the Association’s 14 call centres around the world.
The automated
reservation system, which will be specially configured to meet the needs of the Association and thereby also each individual property, will help
them optimize their exposure to the essential booking and reservations channels and maximize revenues per property.
Jacques-Olivier Chauvin, CEO of Relais & Châteaux,
said, “The selection of SynXis will strengthen our technological edge in terms of reservations,
particularly in the field of internet technologies. For the first time, a hotel organisation will offer the concrete option of putting together individual
itineraries. This will help each Relais & Châteaux guest to choose truly unique stays.”
Scott Alvis, President and General Manager of
SynXis, added, “Relais & Châteaux is an extremely important new customer for SynXis, not only
due to its large number of properties but also because of its global scope and strong reputation. We are proud of the trust they have placed in
us and look forward to meeting the high standard of excellence that has formed the basis for the prestige and international renown that Relais &
Châteaux Association has enjoyed for so many years.”
The operational implementation of the SynXis system will take place in late February 2009.
Relais & Châteaux currently has 480 properties worldwide, with an average room capacity of just 29.
