The
Park Hotel Group has expanded its fast-growing stable of properties in Asia with the acquisition of
the Grand Castle Hotel, a 5-star hotel located in Xian, the ancient capital city of Shaanxi province in China.
With the acquisition, the 338-room property will be rebranded as Grand Park Xian.
Renowned for its opulent palatial architecture, the recently renovated hotel mirrors the
historic architecture of the adjacent Ancient City Wall. It is in close proximity to the city’s
many historic attractions and within walking distance of the Ancient City Wall and the Big
Wild Goose Pagoda, both built during the Tang Dynasty. It is just a 35-kilometre drive away
from Lintong District where one will find the famed Terracotta Warriors and Horses
Museum, as well as the Mausoleum of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang.
The 10-storey hotel is
located in the heart of the city’s business, shopping and
entertainment districts, attracting both business and leisure travellers alike. Grand Park
Xian boasts one of the tallest atrium lobbies in the city, and
facilities in the newly renovated property
include Yue Chinese Restaurant, The Veranda Café Restaurant, Lobby Lounge, ballroom and
six meeting rooms as well as a business centre.
The
Grand Park Xian is the group’s third hotel in China after Grand Park Kunming in Yunnan and Grand Park Wuxi
in Jiangsu.
Park
Hotel Group director Mr Allen Law said, “Our latest acquisition in China is testimony
to our drive to expand our network of strategically-located hotels and enhance our branding.
We have plans to acquire more hotels in China’s key cities in the next three to five
years.”
Besides its China properties, Park Hotel Group also owns and manages Park Hotel Hong
Kong and three properties in Singapore including the new-build Park Hotel Clarke Quay due
to open in March 2009.
