This
year, the Nam Hai in Vietnam, a luxury beachfront resort close to Hoi
An,
has organised a variety of special events to celebrate Christmas and the
New Year.
Festivities begin with an old-fashioned Christmas Eve dinner, featuring
mulled wine, mince pies and carols performed by the local Da Nang Church Choir — an experience that can only be enhanced by attending the spectacular Da Nang Cathedral Christmas Eve
service.
On Christmas Day, The Restaurant offers an elegant
dinner of holiday favorites, including king river prawn tartare, organic Christmas
goose, venison loin and traditional plum pudding accompanied by a live piano program. For a more casual meal, The Beach Restaurant
will serve a
gala Vietnamese buffet.
The Restaurant Christmas dinner is US$175++ when paired with premium wines, or US$130++ without wine. The Christmas buffet at The Beach
Restaurant is priced at US$100++, or US$145++ with free flowing house wine.
The New Year is welcomed in with a ‘Tet Tay’ celebration that commences with a cocktail reception at The Open Lounge, hosted by the resident
general manager.
That’s followed by a five-course New Year’s dinner of delicacies, including Tasmanian oysters with caviar or Angus beef tartare, seared sea
scallop salad or lobster tail with foie gras, and sumptuous desserts such as Varlhona white chocolate crčme brulee with sugar roasted plums
and imported cheese with artisanal breads.
Each course is specially paired with wines from the hotel's extensive cellar. Dancing and live music round out the unforgettable evening.
The Restaurant Tet Tay dinner is US$175++, or US$220++ paired with fine wines. The Beach Restaurant features a buffet, priced at US$115++ or
US$160++ with a bottle of wine of the guest’s choice from The Nam Hai’s special selection.
The resident pianist will team with an accomplished saxophonist to perform holiday favorites during dinner, before ARB Band steps in to
entertain from the late hours of 2008 until the early hours of 2009.
Situated on 85 acres of landscaped tropical gardens overlooking the South China Sea, The Nam Hai covers a one-kilometre stretch of China
Beach, voted by Forbes magazine as one of the world’s 10 most beautiful beaches.
Ten minutes away is picturesque Hoi An, an ancient ‘Silk Route’ trading port with a rich multi-cultural history and nostalgic streetscapes.
The Nam Hai is managed by GHM, creators and operators of award-winning, distinctive luxury hotels and resorts, throughout Asia and the USA.
GHM Chairman Adrian Zecha is renowned as a design-oriented boutique resort developer and founder of the world famous
