Swisstel Hotels & Resorts
has made the the following new appointments:
Mr Julian van den
Bogaerde has been appointed General Manager of the Swisstel Grand, Shanghai
effective 1 October 2008
Mr Christian Schaufelbuehl has been appointed General Manager of the
Swisstel Nankai Osaka effective 30 September 2008, and
Mr Rainer Tenius has been appointed General Manager of the Swisstel Merchant Court, Singapore
effective 1 October 2008.
Mr Julian van den
Bogaerde
began his career with Raffles Hotels & Resorts in 1999 as Vice President Food & Beverage. In 2003, he joined
Swisstel Hotels and Resorts as a member of the pre-opening team that successfully opened Swisstel Nai Lert Park, Bangkok. Subsequently,
he assumed the position of General Manager at Swisstel Amsterdam. Prior to his appointment in Shanghai, Julian was based in the head office
of Swisstel Hotels & Resorts in Zurich as General Manager supporting various properties throughout the world.
Since September 2005,
Mr Christian
Schaufelbuehl has been General Manager of Swisstel Merchant Court, Singapore where he successfully
oversaw an extensive transformation of the property. He joined Swisstel Hotels & Resorts in 1996 in
Swisstel Zurich as Executive Assistant Manager Rooms and subsequently, Sales &
Marketing. Thereafter, he assumed the position of Director of Operations at Swisstel Sydney before his move to Singapore.
For the past year,
Mr Rainer
Tenius has held the position of General Manager at Swisstel Kunshan, China where
he oversaw the conversion of the former Traders Hotel to a Swisstel property and successfully launched the 387-room hotel as
one of the leading hotels in Kunshan in July 2007.
Mr Tenius began his career at Swisstel Hotels & Resorts 18 years ago in 1990 as Executive Assistant Manager with Swisstel Dusseldorf,
Neuss, Germany. Within five years, he was promoted to General Manager, managing Swisstel Cairo El Salam Hotel in Egypt and Swisstel
Zurich in Switzerland. In 2003, he also led the pre-opening team at Swisstel The Celik Palas, Turkey as General Manager. From 2004 to 2007, he
was helming Swisstel Dusseldorf, Neuss, Germany as General Manager before venturing to China.
