Carlson Hotels
has confirmed it is to develop a new Radisson hotel in Liuzhou, the first of several new projects that will bring Carlson's hotel
brands to China's second and third tier cities.
The Radisson Hotel Liuzhou, scheduled to open in February 2010, will be developed by the Sunshine100 Real Estate Group, one of the
country's top property developers. Carlson recently signed a strategic partnership with Sunshine100 designed to double the hotel
group's portfolio in China.
Liuzhou is a large secondary city in China's southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, 255km from the provincial capital Nanning.
Yi Xiaodi, chairman and president of the Sunshine100 Real Estate
Group, said, "At the present moment, many of our second and third tier cities lack an international hotel presence. Our partnership with Carlson will allow us to build at least 10 hotels with the Radisson, Park Plaza
and Park Inn brand names at strategic locations over the next three to five years." The targeted cities include Tianjin,
Chongqing, Shenyang, Yantai, Changsha, Nanning and Guilin.
In Liuzhou, the new 280-room hotel will be situated on Gui Zhong Da Dao South in the Hedong district, opposite the Liuzhou Government
office and just 20 minutes from the city's airport and minutes away from the Liuzhou railway and bus station.
The rooms, each at least 36 square metres in size, will occupy levels 12 through 26 of the 100 metre building, with the lobby and dining
outlets on the first four floors, and levels 5 to 11 set aside as office space.
In addition to a business centre, a 600 square metre grand ballroom and other function rooms, there will be a spa, fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and nightclub.
The Radisson Hotel Liuzhou is expected to attract a mix of customers from the corporate, government and conference sectors, as well as
tourists and long-staying guests.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the many cultural sights the region has to offer, including its diverse multi-ethnic background and landscape of
mountains, parks and the Liu River. The tourist hotspot of Guilin, with its picture postcard scenery, is just 150km away.
