Finland Travel Bureau's (SMT) Board of Directors has appointed Jaana Tammisto
as the new Managing Director of the travel agency effective 1 March 2008. The current Managing Director Jukka Näräkkä
is leaving the post at his own request.
Due to the significant structural changes that have been ongoing in the travel agency industry since the start of the millennium, a major
renewal of the branch office network and operational efficiency programme were conducted at SMT under Jukka Näräkkä's leadership
in 2006-2007.
"We will now focus on new development and growth. The growth stage needs a new leader. Jaana Tammisto has proven herself a customer
and growth-oriented leader as SMT's Commercial Director. Thanks to her knowledge of the travel agency sector, she is well equipped to
succeed in her new position," said Chairman of the SMT Board of Directors Kaisa
Vikkula.
"I am excited to take on this new post as we have a very committed team. We are ready to respond to the future challenges and growth
demands of the company. By developing our personnel we can improve our service and the use of automation will increase our efficiency.
These actions will benefit the customer most," added SMT's new Managing Director Jaana
Tammisto.
Minna Tuorila, the current Sales Group Manager has been appointed as the new Commercial Director
effective the same date, 1 March 2008.
