Herbalife International (Thailand)
is once again challenging companies to sponsor teams to compete in the Herbalife Corporate Challenge Team
Relay at the 2008 Laguna Phuket Triathlon. Renowned as one of Southeast Asia’s premier multi-sporting
events, this year’s Laguna Phuket Triathlon is expected to welcome over 1,200
competitors from around the world who will take part in the event to be held on 7 December at the resort.
This year there are 40 teams, comprising 120 athletes already registered in the Herbalife Corporate Challenge Team Relay. Plus 750 individual
triathletes, including 15 international pros competing for a share of the US$20,000 prize purse. With more than 150 entrants, Hong Kong
represents the largest international market, closely followed by Singapore with 135 participants. Plus there are groups of 25 to 40 people coming
from the USA, Australia, China, UK and the UAE. This is the third consecutive year that the triathlon has sold-out and this year within just 3
months.
Last year’s Triathlon saw Massimo Cigana from Italy win the pro men’s championship title. The Herbalife Corporate Challenge Team Relay was
won by the INUS Herbalife team. Second place went to the YHM2 Herbalife team, followed by The Power of Herbalife team. The winning teams in
the Corporate Challenge Team Relay won US$1, 000, US$750 and US$500, respectively. 2008 marks the third year that the relay teams will be
competing for prize money, courtesy of Herbalife.
Ms. Wallapa Narunatvanich, Country Director of Herbalife International (Thailand) Ltd. said, “Herbalife has been a Title Sponsor of Corporate
Challenge Team Relay and the Official Nutrition and Healthy Living Sponsor of the competition since 2005 in order to help promote an active,
healthy lifestyle through exercise. We value sports sponsorship as it offers an opportunity to encourage people to participate in a healthy and
active lifestyle, which is in line with Herbalife’s position as a leading health and nutrition direct sales company that helps to make the world
healthier.”
Corporate teams must be comprised of three athletes – a swimmer, cyclist and runner, all above the age of 18. They can either be the same
gender or any combination of males/females. Participants must be fit and trained in the relevant events, as they will be competing over a
demanding course made up of a 1.8k swim, 55k bike ride and 12k run.
Corporate relay team sponsorship packages are available from
US$300 to US$1, 800 depending on inclusions which range from race entry and
awards banquet tickets for three persons to accommodation at one of the Laguna hotels, airport transfers and even branding opportunities at
the event.
Registration is available online only at
www.lagunaphukettriathlon.com. Race organisers are limiting
the number of teams competing in the Herbalife Corporate Challenge Team Relay to 50 teams.
