Etihad Airways has made
a dream-come-true for a member of its 3,000-strong cabin crew team based in Abu Dhabi with a brand new Mini
Cooper car, the top prize in a competition designed to boost sales of onboard duty free gifts.
Ms Surawadee Satthaphol from Thailand, was handed the keys to the brand new sporty car, which is worth more than 115,000 Dhs, as a reward
for achieving the highest onboard duty free sales figures by any member of Etihad cabin crew during the first six months of 2008.
Muna Omar, Etihad Airways’ manager in-flight duty free,
said, “As soon as Etihad launched this competition with our cabin crew there was huge
excitement about who would win the Mini Cooper as it’s such a fantastic prize.”
“Etihad continually looks at innovative ways to reward our cabin crew members for the efforts they put in onboard our aircraft and giving a brand
new car to our top seller illustrates just how appreciative we are.”
Prize-winning cabin crew member Surawadee Satthaphol
added, “I am thrilled to have won the Mini Cooper car and after hearing about the
competition I never thought I would actually end up winning it and driving away with such a fantastic prize. I can’t wait for my next day off and I
can cruise along the Corniche in Abu Dhabi and show-off to my colleagues.”
Following the success of the Mini Cooper give-away, Etihad has launched a second competition for the second half of 2008, which gives cabin
crew the chance to win up to one year’s salary for their duty free selling efforts.
More than 1,000 Etihad Airways cabin crew took part in the Mini Cooper promotion which saw an 85% increase in duty free sales during
the first six months of 2008 when compared to the same period in 2007.
