The
Sohar Beach by Swiss-Belhotel which commenced operations under the Swiss-Belhotel International brand in January earlier this year, is currently undergoing
extensions. The additional facilities comprise a further 48 guest rooms (including 8 suites), a 70-seat Mediterranean restaurant with
spectacular views of the Gulf of Oman, a new lounge/bar, and extensive meeting and business facilities able to cater for groups of up to 240
people. A new health club, fitted out with the latest in cardio-vascular and resistance training equipment, completes the beach resort’s
leisure facilities.
The Sohar Beach by Swiss-Belhotel resort currently attracts a combination of leisure and corporate business, originating from
neighbouring countries. However, the hotel General Manager, Mr Muzzaffer
Bulgurcuoglu, said “Europe is growing source market for ‘inquisitive’ travelers who relish exploring the secrets of the destination and learning about Middle Eastern history. Discovering the natural
beauty the Sultanate of Oman enjoys is an attraction in itself.”
Located on the lush Batinah coast, Sohar was the Sultanate’s ancient capital. Today Sohar is the second largest city, after Muscat in Oman.
The destination is known for its beaches lapped by the calm waters of the Gulf of Oman and its proximity to historical attractions and
archaelogical sites (including more than 500 forts, castles and towers), as well as nature reserves (including Ra’s Hadd Turtle Reserve and
The Arabian Oryx Sanctuary).
Swiss-Belhotel International manages 40 hotels and projects, with more than 6,000 rooms globally. Hotels are located in China, Vietnam,
Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Oman and Kuwait. The group also has a Middle East development office located in Dubai, United
Arab Emirates and hotels under construction in the Middle East region including Doha, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sharjah, Dubai and
Jordan.
