In January 2008, Singapore welcomed 883,000 visitors, representing a growth of 6.9% as compared to the same period a year ago. This is a
new record for visitor arrivals in the month of January.
Visitor days were estimated to reach 3.5 million days, a strong double-digit growth of 19.2% as compared to January 2007.
Indonesia (155,000), P.R. China (108,000), Australia (83,000), India (58,000) and Japan (53,000) were Singapores top five visitor-generating
markets. These markets accounted for 52% of total visitor arrivals for the month.
In January 2008, Singapore gazetted hotels were estimated to generate
Sin$175 million in room revenue, representing an increase of 27.9%
over January 2007.
The Average Room Rate (ARR) in January 2008 was estimated at
Sin$237, representing an increase of 30.5% over January 2007 and setting
an all-time record for ARR. The Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) for hotels was estimated to reach 84% in January 2008, posting a 2.3
percentage point decrease over January 2007.
