Etihad Airways
has appointed Greg Brennan project manager for the new Abu Dhabi midfield terminal, which is due to open in
2012.
Mr Brennan will manage all aspects of the new airport development on behalf of Etihad Airways in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Airports
Company (ADAC) and other major developers. He moves from his current position as Etihad’s regional general manager for Europe.
In his new role, Mr Brennan will work closely with his counterparts at ADAC and other companies involved in the construction and opening
of the new US$ 6.8 billion airport development.
Mr Brennan has 20 years of experience in the aviation industry. He joined Etihad Airways in April 2006 as the airline’s manager of airport
operations, moving to his current role as regional general manager airport operations Europe in January 2007, where he had responsibility
for 11 airports in the continent.
Prior to joining Etihad, Mr Brennan spent 11 years at Australia’s national carrier Qantas, performing a variety of airport roles before joining
Virgin Blue in 2000 where he held a number of senior airport management positions, including Sydney airport manager, Brisbane airport
manager and Australian regional airport manager.
Mr Brennan
said, “When it opens, the new midfield terminal at Abu Dhabi airport promises to be one of the finest passenger buildings in the
world, a fitting home base for Etihad Airways and the first impression for visitors flying into the capital city of the
UAE.”
The new US$ 6.8 billion Abu Dhabi midfield terminal will open in phases, beginning at the end of 2011. Once fully operational, the new
airport will be able to accommodate 20 million passengers per year. Eventually, capacity is expected to increase to 40 million passengers.
