Hilton Hotels has appointed Nils-Arne Schroeder as General Manager of
the Hilton Beijing Wangfujing. The intimate, life-style property scheduled
to open on 8 July 2008, is located near to the Forbidden City and other landmark cultural and commercial icons in Beijings famous
Wangfujing district.
The role marks a new milestone in Nils-Arnes eighteen year career in hospitality which led him from his native Cologne in Germany to
South Korea and now to Beijing. Having worked with Hilton Hotels for over 9 years, Nils-Arne has been responsible for the opening
of Hilton hotels in Malaysia and South Korea.
As General Manager of Hilton Beijing
Wangfujing, Nils-Arne will draw upon this enthusiasm to lead 500 employees and managers. He is also
responsible for the hotels overall vision and performance including financial success; brand value; guest engagement; service excellence
and employee development.
His most recent position was that of General Manager during the pre-opening period for Hiltons first Worldwide Resort in South Korea, the
Hilton Namhae Golf & Spa Resort; a 170 all-suite and villa estate, featuring panoramic coastal views and
contemporary design, with extensive facilities including a seafront 18-hole golf course with an all-year round playability and a full-service
spa.
Prior to his posting in South Korea, Nils-Arne was tasked as Director of Business Development for Hilton Kuala Lumpur also during its
pre-opening stage. In this position he combined his knowledge of the hospitality industry with his experience in sales and marketing. His
initiatives included re-engineering many key sales functions, including reservations, sales tracking and customer relationship management.
