Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels
(JLLH) recently assisted Beijing Capital Airport Tourism Co. (BCA) in the selection of an operating partner and
the negotiations of a management agreement for a hotel located at the new Terminal 3 of the Beijing Capital International Airport
(BCIA). Scheduled to open in 2008, the Hilton Beijing Capital Airport will feature
324 rooms.
In September 2007,
also on behalf of
BCA, JLLH successfully negotiated a management agreement on a second hotel at BCIA with
Langham Hotels.
“Hilton Hotels has a strong track record of managing airport hotels. The global reach of its brand and distribution network will
clearly contribute to maximizing the owner’s returns,” said Mr Andreas
Flaig, Executive Vice President, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels and head of the
JLLH’s
operations in China. “The operating philosophy of the Hilton and Langham
brands will strongly complement each other at one of the most prominent hotel locations in China.”
Koos Klein, President Hilton Hotels Corporation - Asia Pacific
added, “This signing marks the latest development in our expansion plans in China. The Hilton Beijing Capital Airport will be the fourth Hilton Family hotel in Beijing. With a significant boost in visitor arrivals
anticipated with the Olympic Games, we are well positioned to ensure our guests can rely on the Hilton experience during this dynamic time
and beyond.”
The 324-room Hilton Beijing Capital Airport will be located at the entrance of Beijing Capital International Airport’s the newly opened
Terminal 3.
The hotel will also be located in close proximity to the new China International Exhibition Center, which opened in March 2008, and is
expected to further enhance Beijing’s reputation as a key MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) destination in China.
Beijing reportedly has over 45% of the share of international MICE business in
China.
With 324 spacious rooms,
each to be a minimum of 40 sq meters, the Hilton Beijing Capital Airport will feature 5 restaurants including 144
seats in all private dining rooms, a lobby lounge, piano bar and wine and cigar bars. It will include an 800 sq meters ballroom and 1,600 sq
meters of meeting rooms. A health club and swimming pool will be complemented by an extensive spa and retail outlets.
The plan of the hotel and another hotel adjacent to it when seen from an aerial view is designed to form the Chinese character for a door or
gateway.
The new Terminal 3 at the BCIA is
one of the largest roofed buildings in the world and has been fully operational since March 26, 2008 serving international
carriers as well as Air China and Shanghai Airlines. Terminal 3 has the capacity to handle 600,000 flights per annum, which triples BCIA’s
previous capacity. In addition, Terminal 3 can handle over twice the volume of passenger throughput from its current annual 36 million
passengers to 82 million.
