Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Thursday, 2 October 2008

MasterCard has launched the second phase of its ‘MasterCard Enjoy! Japan’ campaign, which will run until December 2008. The campaign was first introduced in April this year in support of the ‘Visit Japan’ campaign, a yearly initiative hosted by the national government in Japan to promote incoming foreign tourist traffic and attract 10 million visitors to the country by 2010.

The ‘MasterCard Enjoy! Japan 2008 Fall - Winter’ campaign will run throughout Asia Pacific, a region which contributes significantly to Japan’s foreign tourist traffic and is jointly organized by MasterCard and Japan Travel Bureau (JTB) Corporation, and is supported by the Japan National Tourist Organization.

During the campaign period, cardholders traveling to Japan can enjoy perks and exclusive offers when using their MasterCard cards to make purchases at participating retailers in Japan, including department stores, dedicated duty-free stores, consumer electronics stores, and travel service websites.

Cardholders who use their foreign issued MasterCard cards when making online hotel tour reservations exceeding 10,000 yen on the campaign web page at JAPANiCAN (www.japanican.com/campaign/mastercard) will get a chance to avail prizes such as cosmetics and other complimentary gifts when they participate in lucky draws. The campaign web page is available in several languages, including English, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), and Korean.

In addition, MasterCard will be providing cardholders with a chance to avail other prizes which include cardholders receiving complementary gifts upon making purchases exceeding 10,000 yen. Some other lucky cardholders will also be entitled to filing tax exemption at a range of retailers, including LaOX (Akihabara), Mitsukoshi (Nihonbashi, Ginza, Nagoya), Takashimaya (Nihonbashi and Shinjuku), SoftBank Rentafone (Narita airport) and Japan Duty Free Shops (Narita and Haneda airports).
