Marco Polo Hotels
in Hong Kong has made the following executive appointments.
Mr.
Philip Lim
has been appointed General Manager of the Prince Hotel in Hong Kong. The move comes less than a year into Mr. Lims previous
role as General Manager of the Gateway Hotel.
A Singaporean national, Mr. Lim is a graduate of the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School in Australia, completing his
internship with the Conrad Jupiters Hotel & Casino and the Hayman Island Resort, amongst Australias most celebrated tourist destinations.
A seasoned hotelier, Philip Lim
has extensive experience in operations and management of five-star hotels and resorts around Asia, including
Mainland China where he held various assignments in Qingdao, Xinjiang, and Zhengzhou as well as the 606-room Howard Plaza Hotel in
Taipei, Taiwan.
Prior to joining Marco Polo Hotels, he was the opening General Manager for Wuhan Jin Jiang International Hotel, the flagship property in Central
China of the mainlands largest hotel group.
Mr. Lim is fluent in several Chinese dialects. He successfully completed the General Managers Program of the School of Hotel Administration at
Cornell University and is currently taking up MBA studies.
Ms.
Coreen Cheah has been appointed as Director of Marketing & Sales for the Marco Polo
Hong Kong Hotel, Gateway, and Prince.
Ms.
Cheah has a wealth of specialized experience in Sales and Marketing, Coreen has been spearheading Hotel Sales & Marketing Divisions
for some of the worlds most renowned hotel companies since 1996,
including Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Hilton
International, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, the Sol Melia Group, and Meritus (then under Mandarin Singapore).
Her 18 years in the hospitality industry
have taken her on key assignments across Asia, specifically Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and Greater
China.
In 1998, Coreen held the distinction of being the Youngest Director of Marketing ever appointed within the Shangri-La group. She was also part
of the team that led the re-branding of the Westin Tai Ping Yang in Shanghai to The Sheraton Grand Tai Ping Yang in 2001.
Possessing considerable travel trade contacts in Western and Eastern Europe, United States, Canada, Asia, Russia, and Oceania, Coreens forte
is developing business and maximizing productivity from both the corporate and leisure segments in these markets.
Prior to her appointment as Director of Marketing & Sales for the Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel, Gateway Hotel, and Prince Hotel, Coreen was at
the forefront of the successful opening of the Millennium Hongqiao Hotel Shanghai in September 2006, implementing marketing initiatives that
earned recognition for the hotel as the Best New City Hotel in China by Business Traveller Magazine.
In her current capacity, Coreens main focus will be developing, directing, and executing Marketing & Sales strategies to support business
growth, tap new markets, and define the strategic direction for all three Marco Polo hotels in Hong Kong.
Ms.
Janice Azupardo has been named Director of Communications for the Marco Polo
Hong Kong Hotel, Gateway, and Prince Hotels.
Janice is a seasoned Marketing Communications professional, with over 10 years experience in Public Relations, Brand Management, and
Events Management in the Asia Pacific setting.
Prior to joining the Marco Polo
Hong Kong hotels, Janice was based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to head the re-branding of The Regent Kuala
Lumpur to the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur.
Specializing in launching international hotel brands in North Asia, Janice worked with the Brand PR & Communications team of the Asia Pacific
headquarters of InterContinental Hotels Group, spearheading media initiatives and special customer events to promote the hotel brands under
the groups portfolio in the region, as well as providing Communications consultancy and Public Relations support to pre-opening hotels and
resorts in Greater China.
As Director of Communications for the Marco Polo
Hong Kong Hotel, Gateway, and Prince, Janice will be responsible for the development of
communications strategies and the implementation of tactical plans as they relate to all three hotels media, community, and market
relations.
Mr.
Benjamin Fung
has been appointed Manager of the Gateway Hotel. The promotion comes following Mr. Fungs role as Resident
Manager of the Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel.
Since first joining Marco Polo Hotels in 1996, Mr. Fung has held key operations positions with both the Marco Polo
Hong Kong Hotel and Prince Hotel, including that of Manager for Prince in 2005.
Benjamin
started his career in the hospitality industry in 1979 with New World Renaissance, followed by ten years with Holiday Inn Hotels
including Holiday Inn Golden Mile and Holiday Inn Harbour View Crowne Plaza.
Fluent in several Chinese dialects, Mr. Fung is currently completing an MBA degree from Macquarie University in Australia.
