NSW Tourism Minister Jodi McKay
officially opened the Pullman at Sydney Olympic Park on Thursday. The $70 million hotel was developed by Tourism Asset Holdings Limited (TAHL),
one of Australia’s largest hotel owning groups. The Pullman joins three
other Accor hotels at Sydney Olympic Park - Novotel, Ibis and Formule 1
- bringing the total number of rooms in the precinct to nearly 700.
The 16-storey Pullman comprises 212 rooms and suites, many with panoramic views to the Sydney city skyline. Renowned designer Joseph
Pang provided a contemporary and stylish fit-out incorporating striking art-works and innovative communications features.
The hotel is Accor’s first Pullman hotel to be launched in Australia. The new 5-star brand was recently established by Accor to provide 5-star
accommodation targeted largely at the corporate, conferences and events market.
Accor Asia Pacific Chairman Michael Issenberg said,
“The opening of the Pullman hotel will play a major role in providing the necessary infrastructure to facilitate the ambitious Sydney Olympic Park
2030 plan. With 4500 events already taking place in the Park and with a large number of new corporate offices set to open over the next few years
we are very positive about the prospects for the new hotel.”
Accor
has a target of establishing 300 Pullman hotels by 2015 in countries such as New Zealand,
China, Malaysia, Thailand, India, France, Germany and Brazil. Additional Pullman hotels in
Australia are also expected.
The Pullman
is aiming to be one of Australia’s most environmentally sensitive urban hotels.
The property has
a 50% target for water conservation and has solar panels on the rooftop.
The 640-acre Sydney Olympic Park precinct is currently home to over 60 national and global businesses, and the recently released 2030 Master
Plan for the Park envisages a residential population in 2030 of 14,000, a working population of 28,500 and 5,000 students. Currently, over eight
million people visit the Park annually for business, conferences, leisure or events.
The Pullman is targeting the conference and events sector, with function facilities for up to 220 delegates. The hotel has three executive levels,
an Executive Lounge, 24-hour hi-tech gym, Bacar restaurant and a wine bar.
