Sunday, April 20,
is the date of the official opening celebration of The St Regis Singapore,
one of the most high profile new luxury hotels to open in Singapore for over a decade.
More than 1000 senior leaders from the worlds of business and society in Singapore have been invited to the exclusive occasion, which will
echo the legendary social gatherings that took place in the original St. Regis New York over a century ago, when Mrs. Caroline Astor,
mother of the hotels founder John Jacob Astor IV, held her famous parties for the glitterati of New York.
The Grand Opening of The St Regis Singapore will be an elegant formal cocktail event. The hotels Astor Ballroom will be transformed into a
1920s style outdoor garden from the 1920s and the party will spread throughout the hotels restaurants and public areas. The Singapore
Symphony Orchestra will welcome guests with light classic waltzes, while live jazz bands from Shanghai, Sydney and around the
region will make the evening swing.
Guests will
be able to sip Krug champagne and cocktails specially created by renowned international mixologists the Sorum brothers from Sweden,
who are famous throughout the world for their theatrical displays of the art of cocktail
mixology.
Singapores Minister for National Development, Mr Mah Bow Tan, will be the Guest of Honour for the evening.
After months of preparation and a successful soft opening period, it is a great feeling that the hotel is now officially opening, said general
manager, Mr. Yngvar Stray. Its also an honor for us to be the first St. Regis in South East Asia and exciting to be the first new internationally branded luxury hotel to
open in Singapore in 11 years.
Located in the heart of the city state
and
designed by internationally acclaimed architects WATG and interior by Wilson Associates, The St. Regis Singapore features 299 luxuriously
appointed guestrooms and suites, all generously proportioned with plush custom furnishings evoking a sense of timeless elegance.
The hotel features
a ballroom that features two large skylights, the first
premium Remde Spa outside of the United States, and a fleet of customised Bentleys for transportation.
Taking its cue from the artistic heritage of The St. Regis Hotel in New York, The St. Regis Singapore also houses one of the largest and
finest private art collections in Asia. Over 90 original paintings and sculptures by world famous artists such as Columbian artist Fernando
Botero, French artist Marc Chagall, American architect Frank Gehry, Chinese Modernist pioneer Gu Gan, and a group of Singaporean
pioneer artists such as Chen Wen Hsi and Georgette Chen have been painstakingly selected to complement the elegance of the hotels
interiors.
Dining at The St. Regis Singapore is a stylish affair, ranging from the elegant all-day modern French brasserie Les Saveurs to delicate
Cantonese dishes prepared by master chefs at the chic contemporary Yan Ting Chinese restaurant, and LaBrezza, a trendy Mediterranean
terrace restaurant, which serves flavourful recipes from across the Mediterranean region.
Rare and prestigious vintages are served at the elegant Decanter that houses over 1,500 labels and 2,000 bottles of premium wine, many of
which are available exclusively at the wine bar.
The Astor Bar, named after John Jacob Astor offers a relaxing venue for
a Bloody Mary and its unique spicy
local blend, the Chili Padi Mary while The Drawing Room offers one of the finest selections of tea, including Dammann Frres, exquisite
French blend since 1692, offered for the first time in Singapore and exclusive to the hotel.
The
St. Regis name is now carried by an exclusive group of prestigious hotels, of which The St. Regis Singapore is the thirteenth in the world and the third in Asia.
