Carlson Hotels Worldwide – Asia Pacific has strengthened its regional sales and marketing team with a number of key appointments including
industry veteran Christine Toguchi as its new Corporate Director of Marketing. The move comes as the company aggressively looks to expand
its presence in Asia with an increased, strategic focus on marketing and sales activities.
Christine
Toguchi joins CHW-AP with two decades of experience in travel trade, airline and hotel sales and marketing. Previously,
Toguchi owned and
managed MacroVision Network, a marketing, training and consulting firm specializing in Distribution Marketing and Revenue
Optimization Strategy for the hospitality sector. She was also the Managing Director for the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association
International (HSMAI) in Asia Pacific which she helped to establish in 2005. Prior to that, Toguchi was Vice President of Marketing – Asia Pacific
for Utell and Sterling Hotels & Resorts, subsidiary companies of Pegasus Solutions.
In her new role, Toguchi will be responsible for brand and partner marketing, e-commerce as well as hotel pre-opening marketing activities.
Timothy Tan has been appointed Director of Sales, South-east Asia, joining CHW-AP from Singapore-based HPL Hotels & Resorts where he was
Business Development Manager. Meanwhile, Patrick Tong, the newly appointed Director of Sales for Hong Kong and Taiwan joins CHW-AP with
almost ten years of hospitality experience. His most recent position was Account Director, Global Sales for Marriott International Inc, based in
Hong Kong. Both Timothy and Patrick will be responsible for managing key client accounts in their respective regions.
Arti Shetty also takes up the newly created position of Manager for Projects, Revenue Generation. One of Shetty’s first assignments is to review
existing airline and credit card agreements to ensure marketing opportunities with global partners are
optimised.
These new sales and marketing staff appointments come under Revenue Generation, with Toguchi reporting directly to Frank
Trampert, Executive Vice President, Revenue Generation, Carlson Hotels Worldwide – Asia Pacific.
“With the proliferation and growing popularity of online activity in Asia Pacific and the opportunity to engage new markets, one of Christine’s
major responsibilities is to develop a highly effective, interactive marketing strategy that will compliment our Revenue Generation strategy and
also support Carlson’s aggressive expansion in Asia Pacific,” said
Trampert.
