Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts
today opens its third hotel in China – the Swissôtel Grand, Shanghai.
Enjoying an outstanding location in Shanghai’s Jing’An district, the new hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from Nanjing West Road with its
many elegant shops, including Plaza 66 and Citic Square. Other nearby attractions include Jing’An Temple, Shanghai Grand Theatre and
the Shanghai Museum, as well as the residential building where Aileen Chang penned her famous novel, Lust, Caution, in the 1940s.
With 467 rooms and suites, executive floors, an exclusive Club Lounge on the 27th floor and four restaurants and bars, the Swissôtel
Grand, Shanghai is designed to meet the requirements of both business and leisure
travellers.
Rooms for non-smokers and handicapped guests are available, and all the rooms command
views over the city’s ultra-modern
skyline.
Guests to the hotel have a wide range of dining options. The all-day dining Café Swiss offers guests a dazzling array of international fare,
made more fun by an exciting “live” cooking show by the busy international chefs in an open kitchen concept design.
Authentic regional Chinese fare is served in the trendy Mian Ba, including a wide selection of Asian noodles, or “mian”. The earthy, robust
Shanghainese dishes at the restaurant are complemented perfectly by the lighter and more delicate tastes of Cantonese cuisine.
Meanwhile, guests in The Flow Lounge & Bar in the lobby can relax over a morning coffee, afternoon tea and scones, or drinks before or
after dinner. For true chocaholics, a chocolate buffet is served each weekend, with only the very best quality Swiss chocolate used to make
the elaborate confections.
Those looking for some time out from their hectic schedule can relax at the Spa & Fitness on the 5th floor, which offers a range of specially
created massage, facial and body treatments in one of either three treatment rooms or two VIP suites.
There is also a heated indoor swimming pool, with children’s paddling pool, as well as a fully equipped 200 sqm gym and
Energia health bar, which serves light snacks, cut fruits, home made energy bars, fresh fruit juices, energy and health drinks.
Swissôtel Grand, Shanghai has a range of meeting rooms, each equipped with the latest technology, wireless internet access and other
support services, such as a modern business centre.
The 575 sqm Grand Ballroom, a 390 sqm Junior Ballroom and six other function rooms, with a combined 285 sqm floor space, are ideal for
any kind of corporate or celebratory event, including conventions, board meetings, product launches, seminars, break-out sessions, theme
parties, birthdays, anniversaries and weddings.
Commenting on the opening of the new hotel, Meinhard Huck, Managing Director Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts
said, “China is also an
extremely important market for us, and is enjoying steady growth. We have successfully operated a hotel at the centre of Beijing for many
years, and are now delighted to be able to offer our guests Swiss hospitality of the highest standard in the teeming metropolis of
Shanghai.”
